Two Down…

Goodness me! Well, 48 hours in and the festival is in it’s third wind. Yesterday proved to be a different experience for lots of different people. The audiences of Mr. Mistress’ Wardrobe Malfunction had a real eye-full of hilarity and scorching burlesque, whilst other audiences had an opportunity to see several different shows exploring various mediums and themes.

I was ushering for Kati Francis’ ‘Wash-a-bye-baby’, an incredible controlled one woman show about the struggles women face with single parent hood. She was an absolute star, firmly controlling the audiences emotions whilst flipping from absurd comedy, to the mundane, to the painfully emotional. A whirlwind with a washing machine!

At the last minute of the night I signed up to get a privileged seat of ‘Ruby’s Last Confession’. Not knowing what to expect, I walked in to a very intimate room, with only 8 other audience members. We then spent an hour learning about the deadly debutant Ruby Corset, and her aristocratic past that has dealt her the most cruel of cards in life. Switching from story telling to song, she accompanied her tales with the help of Crystal, her cello. What a great pair of performers!

But it’s not over! We’ve still got a whole host of performance, installation, and music to serve up. Today is the day that we, the festival team, believe most represents what we believe is important. Sometimes political, often innovative but always worth a look. And it’s not too late to get a ticket, so come on down.

It’s your last opportunity to Get Exited, Get Involved. Sunday Programme listings here!
