Sian, once again well done for all your hard work. I think Aristic Directors of the past, present and future will all sympathise with how much hard work you’ve put in to programming this festival…and I can safely say I heave a massive sigh of relief whenever I think of you as this years Artistic Director. Surely any ‘outreach’ in the arts should be about raising awareness of, and increasing access to work.
Not some patronising notion of making accessible work.
Traditional critical methods remain a strong way of reading work (not, I feel, the only way) and an ‘outreach’ could be geared towards demystifying jargon.
In this respect, then, Etchells’ project Art Flavours can be seen as extremely relevant.

Now, I’d have loved to see (and, of course taste) the results at Manifesta, but this video being shown in a small, tucked away space that requires a doorbell to be rung for access… that could be seen as an issue in itself.

it’s pretty much teh same thing only there are no cameras involved and you are described as “you” and the other person you got connected to is called “stranger”. you are then encouraged to simply say “hi!” an introduce yourselved and get talking.

I have met some interesting people on there! my fave has to be a contestent from Cycle 3 of Canada’s next Top Model (who i ahvae now added on facebook and regularly chat to!

I think, with these websites, as literally any for of content goes, as long as you are sensible and open-minded, then it is really fun and actually quite anthropological!

There’s a website that will look like chatroulette thats been in the make since like 4 months… ( 1 month before chatroulette launches)
