A rural village, in an unspecified time and place. The village Baker holds power by possessing an oven to bake bread for the village, as tradition has taught them to rely on him. The Baker's Wife and his Little Sister are confined to the bakery, to keep them pure and white, where they pull steaming loaves from the oven each day, happily fulfilling their purpose in life. But the Miller steps into their home, bringing flour for their ovens. Rebellious Little Sister is tempted beyond the walls of her world, into the Village outside, where happiness and fulfillment are quite different things.
The Sun Laughs was awarded a Fabrique en Croatie in public competition.
From 2:10pm – 3:00pm, there will be a Discussion about the play & Presentation on Contemporary Croatian Drama
