Seeing is believing, but what I see is not what I want to believe.
What are the social values ascribed to complexion, hair texture and other characteristics used to identify 'blackness'? Blending dramatic monologue and dance with film and photography, 'It Goes Unsaid' follows six different characters experiencing the 'colour complex'. 'It Goes Unsaid' has become a point of entry for a broad and in-depth conversation on race, class, sexuality, hip-hop culture, the media and other issues that seem to exert destructive force in contemporary communities, and has been developed work as the first in a series focused on self-hatred. 'It Goes Unsaid' premiered as a part of the Raw Performing Arts Series in 2006 at the University of California, Los Angeles.
